It’s not the biggest collection in the world, and the rarest game he has tops out at around $600, a far cry from the thousands of dollars some rare games are reported to be worth.
So what makes his collection so special? It’s all about the aesthetics, dude. Norton’s 5,200-game collection is meticulously alphabetized and displayed so everyone can enjoy it in all its spectacular glory. “I suppose I’d have to consider myself a Nintendo fanboy. I grew up in the 1980s. Nintendo and Mario was everywhere, there was no escaping it,” Norton recalled. “From Sunday morning cartoons, cereal, underwear, bed sheets and lunch boxes.
Nintendo makes fantastic games and has enduring franchises. It is without a doubt my favorite company.” “I’ve acquired a ton of games, but I don’t feel like I’ve spent a ton. Most people don’t realize that many of these classic games can be found for $1 - $4 each,” he dished. “It’s all about finding the right deal at the right time. Hunting out your local area. Finding extras games for cheap and trading online.
To me collecting has become a fun game in and of itself.” “I’d say I have most of the rare games for most systems,” he went on to say. “To be honest it may be easier to mention the hard-to-find games I don’t have.
For the NES I own a complete licensed set, except for the very hard-to-find Stadium Events. My Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube sets are complete as well, except for the two mail-order Super Nintendo competition carts. I also own a complete set for Virtual Boy, Sega Game Gear and Sega 32x. I’m working on finishing up my Sega Master System, Game Boy and Game Boy Color sets.” X
I’d never ever be sad again
So I just got back last night from a brony convention in San Francisco. I was working a booth for a vendor friend, and let me tell you what happened:
We met a little girl who was there with her family. She got a button drawn at our booth, told us all about her favorite…
Tuesday Tips - Gesture Drawing
As a story artist, I feel like one of the most important technical skill to develop is the ability to draw things things clearly and fast. Practicing gesture drawing is, in my opinion, a good way to get better at it. I think it’s fun, too! Of course, you can draw from life and find unique things people and animals do, but I also think practicing gesture drawing from imagination is truly helpful. For instance, I usually do some gesture drawings of characters I’m about to work with in a sequence. It helps me find a short-hand to start building from. The simpler, the better. Especially early on a project, it really helps to find a quick way to draw a character over and over without repeating yourself all the time.
I remember Life Drawing teachers telling me to “draw from within” and to “feel the weight”. It’s absolutely true, but in terms of storyboarding, other elements came to be as important to the process. Silhouette and a sense of “cartooning” is tremendously helpful to communicate certain things clearly to an audience.
I’m only focusing on character posing right now (and this is just an introduction to the subject). Gesture drawing is very close to thumb-nailing, another ultra-helpful skill. More on that later.
For those who want to spend some money on great books on the subject, I highly recommend you to pick up “Drawn To Life: 20 Golden Years of Master Classes of Disney Master Classes” (Vol. 1 and 2) , from Walt Stanchfield. Do it.
This is all for my own personal motivation!;A; Some of you know I take pole fitness classes. I have been steadilly going for 2.5 years and by no means will be stopping any time soon, even after I move and have to switch studios. In february I tore my back muscle realllly good, an injury that really set me back as I was on track to losing some weight. I had to stop pole for 7+ weeks as well as my training at home and I pretty much gained everything back. Tonight I started a healthier diet, just water for drinking. no more soda or sugar (which is my SUPER DOWNFALL SWEETS ARGH), lots of vegetables and protein. I wanted to do some strength training today but my back, AGAIN, has been bothering me some. Since Pole is so intense and the muscle pain can last literally up until my next class begins, I will be doing 30 minutes of the elliptical trainer every day for cardio and leave Saturday for my 1 hour of pole, with Sunday being a day off. I was doing really well at losing weight until I destroyed my back muscle in early February and had to literally quick all activity until it healed, which was the hardest thing ever. When I get bored I eat. And usually I head right for the sugary crap or fast food at lunch time. I am by no means overweight but I am not comfortable knowing I can do better than this. Ultimately my goal is to lose about 20 pounds to get back to my normal weight. This of course, does not count all the extra muscle I’ve built from pole so we will see how I feel after even 15. Typically my everyday meals are as such (though dinner time can really vary cause my mom is home and cooking now. After I move in July I will hopefully be able to just maintain weight instead of worrying about losing)
Breakfast: Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yogurt at 80 calories (fruit on the bottom yum :9 ) and coffee with some international delight creamer. This can be easy to accidentally over indulge on, gonna work on that haha.
Lunch: 1 whole 33.5 ounce Smart Water, I like Smart Water because it has electrolytes in it for energy. Any Healthy Choice Steamers. Depending on what I have for Lunch (chicken, pasta or rice) I will not have one of those for dinner. Each of these is around 250-300 calories.
Dinner: Protein (fish, chicken or Turkey), Vegetable or Salad or vegan with veggies that have protein like chickpeas. Cant count calories here but I am going to try and limit carbs too if I can, my mom can help me with that part.
This kind of turned into a fitness post , but I have been dying to get started and after getting on the elliptical tonight I feel like my motivation has finally come back after my injury. I now have motivation and a timeline as well with moving in 3 months. :) Yay Health and Fitness! This photo was taken a long time ago, at least a year or more so I have improved since this, and can’t wait for more photos coming up in may :’)
Been working on more painting like images for Zodiac and I am so glad I can finally make some background like drawings. These are all made with awesome watercolor photoshop and cloud brushes I found, with some charcoal mixed in for good measure ;) I don’t normally do backgrounds but this has gotten me much more comfortable with them, even if they are just sky scenes :)
Because sites like Deviantart are free for use “clipart”.
